As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the term "software-defined vehicles" typically refers to the concept of using software to control and manage various aspects of a vehicle's functions beyond traditional hardware controls. This includes features like over-the-air software updates, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment systems, and more.
